Respet Yasef!

Respet Yasef!
Yes you read it right...and no it's not a typo error. Respet yasef! I initially thought of using "Value Yourself" but I looked at it again and in my head it appeared like a Bloomberg headline - too cliché for the millenials. If you're reading this , then I believe I succeeded in connecting. 💗

Respect Yourself!

Seriously, you have to. In a somewhat related post, I talked about identity crises being at the core of man's debacle. In my view, if you identify the value inherent in something, the way and manner you would relate to it would greatly change. Say for example, if you were to be gifted the original 'Monalisa' piece, being naive about its value - you won't hesitate to sell it off for next to nothing. However for an art connoisseur who knows the worth of the masterpiece, he would happily buy it from you only to ship it off to hardcore art enthusiasts at a ridiculously high price! When it comes to value, perception is everything!

For We Have This Treasure In Earthen Vessels...

Many are the eyes that look, few are those that see. This is why when you offer your product or services to people - it is appraised differently. My point exactly is to challenge you to correctly value yourself.
You have to understand that man is the zenith of God's creation. Much so that the tri-une God created man as a tri-partite being. One part of man is trash - literally.
His earth-suit is made from dirt. However God in His Immortal Wisdom put His Spirit in man and also gave him a soul. So while his 'housing' is trash, the man has treasure inside. Such that if you're not careful, you will miss the treasure because you focus on the trash.

Treasure or Trash?

You have to treat yourself with respect. Stop asking people to respect you if you won't respect yourself. Your value-proposition then stems from what you have known or discovered about yourself. One of the ways you respect yourself is shown by what you accept or not accept. Not everyone will see the treasure in you, they would rather see the trash on you. It now behooves you to gravitate towards people who recognize your value.

"Me" vs "We"

Man is a social being. For the most part we live in communities - whether religious, physical, social et al. So we largely depend on others as support-systems which in itself is a good thing as no man is an island. The flip side to this is that people not only depend on others for support but tend to derive their identity from others.
Like I said before, it's your life; own up to it! People's opinions do not equal your reality. Who you're is not a summation of some vox pop.

Your Excellency!

If you were to be born into a royal family (which indeed you are), the first thing you would notice is that everyone around you will always educate you on who you are. If you ask Prince Charles of Great Britain, he would tell you that it is what he heard all his life!
You just have to recognize the premium value on you. You respect yourself by recognizing this and living accordingly.
For I have said, ye are...
