The Platform 11.0 - 7 Speakers; I Venue

I would have done justice to the other speakers but for time constraints; i have got to catch up with other 'things'. All i can say that the Independence Edition of the Platform [11.0] will definitely be cataclysmic! If you have not yet registered - you might have to settle for the live TV transmission or the online streaming. Watch out for one of my favourite speakers - Ibukun Awosika. That woman spits fire and talks with passion! I love her TV programme and her desire to help start-up entrepreneurs. She has revolutionize the furniture sub-sector with her creative acumen - this will be her fourth outing at the Platform Nigeria! Not forgetting the catalyst himself - Poju Oyemade! Talk is cheap so i will stop here [and like @tochi5_ would say: "you can thank me later! lol].

At age 12 He was already conversant with the Scriptures, He learnt His earthly father's trade. Now this important fact is always neglected: one of the reasons God made Jesus to be born in a carpenter-father house because He wanted Him to get acquainted with wood and nails because of the cross where when He was to be hung on wood and pinned with nails.

The Queen Blogger - LINDA IKEJI!

Choi! [Linda Ikeji's favourite exclamation]. I really could not think of a better start to this very brief piece.
For those of us who don't know who Linda Ikeji is, she is Nigeria's top celebrity blogger.
She it is who has redefined blogging as far as this side of the heavens is concerned. Linda has remained a pace-setter of sorts and trailblazer in her line. You can immediately infer how powerful her blog has become because oft times people copy her works verbatim - literally word for word! Word has it that are readers [viewers] are in the 7-digit range [choi, again].
Today she turns 33 and i anticipate a lot of media mentions for her later in the day.
There are few reasons i am excited about this personality [trust me na, i ain't 'famzing'] which i will share briefly - with the hope that it inspires you of course!
One. Linda Ikeji is a female. That for me is something every female out there should remember. Needless to say, society has been found culpable of projecting females in a lower light than they deserve. It seems that a distorted and unenlightened view exist about women in this society of ours. They are relegated to the background, assumed to be good enough to be married, excellent only in housekeeping and assigned trivial roles. As such, a female dominating in her chosen field is something worth celebrating and emulating. Definitely, not all females will become bloggers but her success should be able to spur others of her gender into their own success stories. I believe there is more to a woman than just "lips, hips and fingertips" - a woman is an Amazing Amazon. Thus she must be treated as one. We should help in maximizing their potentials not seeing them as 'objects' to be 'devoured'..

SEX - Pre-Event Approach [For Ladies Only]

Sex is the end-result of a process! Many people [especially youths] who have had sex didn't see it coming - honestly. They thought they were just 'kissing', 'making out', 'smooching' [i just discovered that one not too long ago] and doing what people in love usually do.

This is especially written for 'all my ladies' - lol. "...be careful how you hear..."
Most girls who have had sex have been sweet-talked into it! Mr. Romeo disarms them gradually with his ever sugar-coated words. They commonly call it 'toasting' - when i looked it up in the Dictionary it explained to me a process by which bread is prepared.

Good afternoon friends. Sorry this might be coming in later than scheduled. The irregularities aren't intentional, i just had other things that demanded more attention.
Now back to business - literally.
I have been dealing with "Kingdometrics" for two Mondays now but i will continue the sequels in that series subsequently. Today's BMI are just my personal views on the approach to income, earnings and value. Enjoy!

Y.E.A.R.S. - We Are Moving Forward!

We are almost there! In exactly one month's time, the foremost Academy, Youth Empowerment And Remodeling School - [YEARS] will clock one year! YEARS commenced her operations officially [although we have been around for a while] on the 14th of October 2012. It has certainly been an adventure-filled journey. For those who know what it means to start from scratch and build something from ground-up, you will agree that i takes God's grace. Fierce has been our battles, sweet has been our victories and glorious has been our triumphs. 

We thank God for His grace which has brought us hither. We also thank those who have held our hands up. To say we did it all by ourselves will be to sound ungrateful. Especially those who were always behind the scenes; they never appeared on the big screen yet they were fundamental to our growth. One thing i enjoy about adventures like this is that you get to learn first-hand what you may never be taught. Like my friend Don Philips would say:"most of the best things in life are not found in textbooks". Nobody teaches you how to birth an idea in a classroom.

Like i also say always, i am a product of grace! Most of what i do are just the benefits of being under a spiritual umbrella - Just like Elisha parted the water with Elijah's anointing. Most people may see the effects and conclude we are superhumans but our sufficiency is of God. My gratitude to Pastor Abel Ezekiel, words can't fully describe your impact on the life of the Convener of YEARS. Drinking from your oil has definitely kept me going.

For those who think YEARS is just an online organization, you are unaware! Starting next week, we will be sharing screen-shots from our Plenary sessions, outreaches and other events. Watch this space! Our anniversary next month is going to be special because it coincides with our national anniversary month, the birthday of the Convener and other significant landmarks.

The Politics Of ASUU - An Economist's Viewpoint

Yet again, i have been forced to break the ice. I really wished i was about to write about something else than the ASUU/FG quagmire. Recent events have indicated that the face-off is fast assuming an alarming proportion. It is now stale news that the NANS president has been unceremoniously impeached. The reasons given are that he is not taking the bull by the horn instead he is exchanging pleasantries with the both parties. His deputy has since assumed his position. Only two days ago, a 400 level student of Fine and Applied Arts from my alma mater, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka was arrested at the newly opened Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu after the NDLEA detected cocaine which he ingested. He gave the reason for his actions as being the quest for developing his Art Gallery but between us, we know idleness played out as a prominent causality.
Left for me, my opinions may certainly be biased because the situation has gone out of hands.

September 11 And The Nigerian Effect - Any Correlation?

Today is the 12th Anniversary of the infamous September 11 attacks on the US by terrorists. The terrorists hijacked four US passenger planes and caused the cataclysmic destruction of thousands of souls. One thing that stands out today's celebration from other years is that the kingpin behind the heinous crime, Osama Bin Laden was killed by a highly intelligent team of US Seals whose precision was matchless. Across the US, today's event is marked by formal events such as public reading of the victims' names, wreath-lying ceremony and charity fund-raisers.
That is not what caught my attention. What made me reverse my day-off writing decision was this; a warning by the US government to its citizens in Nigeria:

The United States of America has declared 14 states in northern Nigeria unsafe for its citizens in the country and has enforced a restricted travel policy for its citizens to these states.
According to World Bulletin, its embassy in Nigeria advised its citizens to avoid the states ahead of the 12th Anniversary of the September 2011 attacks on the Twin Towers and the World Trade Centre. For safety and security concerns, the US Mission in Nigeria is enforcing a restricted travel policy for US Embassy personnel to the States of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kastina, Kebbi, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, Yobe and Zamfara, the US Embassy in Nigeria posted on its website.

"US citizens should be mindful of this and consider taking similar steps when planning travel", added the online statement. The statement said,"adding that the restriction is to prevent American citizens from hurt in the event of spontaneous demonstrations that could occur on the 9/11 anniversary. Spontaneous demonstrations are also like to occur in these and possibly other areas within Nigeria in response to heightened tensions in the Middle East, as well as the lead up to September 11" said the statement. "US citizens should avoid areas of demonstrations and exercise caution in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests or demonstrations" it added.

It instructed US citizens to also remain vigilant around churches, mosques, other places of worship and locations where large crowds may gather such as hotels, markets, malls and other places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers, particularly on the anniversary of the attack. The Embassy recommended that American citizens traveling in Nigeria enroll in the Department of State's Smart Traveller Enrollment Program [STEP]. STEP enrolment gives you the latest security updates and makes it easier for the US Embassy or nearest US Consulate to contact you in an emergency. If you don't have internet access, enroll directly with the nearest US Embassy or Consulate" the online statement said.

When God Speaks; I Hear Him Twice! [Purpose]

Yesterday one of my friends and sister from another mother shared the following link on the group page of Youth Empowerment And Remodeling School - YEARS. Your fathers were correct when they said: "...the chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever..."

"Kingdometrics" - Unsual Business Insights 2

Welcome to another Monday [I could barely wait]! If you were on this space last week then you will agree that what i am about to share won't look strange to you. I was awed and encouraged by the impact and your feedback from last Monday's BMI so i scheduled myself to scribble a sequel this morning. Last week, i explained certain concepts so i will just skip the preface and just hit it straight on! Let's go!

"...wisdom is a defence; money [symbolic of wealth] is a defence..." - Ecclesiastes 7:12. To make this Scripture more lucid, let us use a mathematical allegory. Basic mathematics tells us that if a=c and b=c, then it necessarily implies that a=b. Applying this to the above Scripture: wisdom=defence and money=defence, thus we can deduce the identity relationship that states wisdom=money. This corroborates with last week's insights where we stated that Wisdom=Wealth.
A poor [but] wise man delivered a city but his voice was not heard [Ecclesiastes 9:14-15]. You will immediately notice a contradiction in this text. From earlier explanations we see that 'wisdom' and 'poor' don't go together. He was operating at a sub-optimal level. Wisdom and Money should have been a 100% percent weapon but he employed only 50% of his armoury [i.e only wisdom].

To solve this problem, Jesus said: "...i will give you a wisdom and a mouth [not physical oral cavity but influence and affluence which amongst other things include money]. This is why in local parlance, when a person has money it is usually stated in colloquial terms that the person is "mouth-ed". Like i always teach, money is not good or bad in itself i.e it is neither moral or immoral, it is amoral. Money takes the dimension of the possessor. To the pure all things [money is a thing] are pure. Conversely, to the un-pure all things are un-pure. To a good man money is good but to a bad man money is bad. What is not good about money is the LOVE ["love" in this context means the obsession and topmost prioritization] of money. This is because either God is your priority or Mammon [the spirit of money] is. Money is only but a means to an end and not an end in itself.

Guess what? God created money! "...the silver is mine and the gold is mine saith the LORD of hosts..." - Haggai 2:7 In the biblical and medieval times, silver and gold were the predominant currency. So if God created money and i am joint-heirs with Christ, it means i legally inherit what God has! When Jesus was asked to pay His taxes, He did not speak in tongues! He simply authorized someone to go and withdraw from one of His numerous bank accounts [guess the water, the fishes are the Lord's and the money thereof! Hehehe]. When it came to changing water to wine [something that money cannot do], He performed a miracle! What the devil usually does is to introduce the [ab]use of money. "...money answers all things...". When i wish to acquire a Mega Mansion in Park View like a certain someone [@gn_] just did, i don't necessarily have to pray to God. I will just wire the required funds from my account to the corresponding account, Se fini! However when i need a miracle [what money cannot do], i quickly go down on my knees!

God will not do for you what you can do for yourself! He will do for you what you cannot do for yourself so He will ultimately take all the glory. So if you are still waiting on God to take your bath for you, do your dishes or lace up your shoes - i have got two words for you: STOP TRIPPIN'! Wake up and become alert to your own financial responsibilities! God only empowers you for wealth but it is your responsibility to go and get! You are not reading this quintessential and very expository insight because i know how to speak in tongues! You are reading it courtesy of money! It cost a good amount of notes to purchase an internet bundle and consequently subscribe for a data plan. The device i use to broadcast this is not free either. Money is a tool! One of the only incentive for my doing this is primarily that the blessings it brings to others like you far outweighs the financial implications. So if i have affected your view of money, let me know. Celebrate this knowledge like it was your birthday! Selah.

I close with this Scripture i pray i will be able to expand some other time. This is one of the reasons you should become prosperous because your wealth can and should be used to propagate God's Kingdom here on earth!

The Adventures of ASUU and the FG

"When one of my friends who lives abroad asks me what ASUU means, i tell him that it is an annual cultural festival where the University Community in Nigeria temporarily suspends its activities."

That is one of the numerous parodies currently going viral and making the rounds on social media. I write this out of sincere empathy for my contacts and ultimately all the Nigerian youths who are affected by this eye-sore. I remember my undergrad days in NAU with nostalgia; one thing that clearly stood out was the consistency of her academic calender - it simply made learning easy.

Is the Nigerian government unaware of the implications of this action; what it is doing to the psychological health of these young bloods? How would they know when their kids have been 'exported' to study abroad [annoyingly, our near neighbours Ghana is on that list]. Do the government and ASUU recognize that the fastest way to get youths engaged in social vices is to keep them idle? I honestly lack words to describe this inimical situation.

Today is a Friday; the weekend is on! However most youths especially undergraduates in the various higher institutions of learning may not agree with me. For them the current ASUU/FG deadlock has killed their 'TGIF-mode'. After about 2 months of academic shutdown, the both parties are still indifferent to the plight of the Nigerian undergraduate student. Only few days ago, Femi Fani Kayode was quoted thus; "ASUU's demands are capable of shutting down government". His stance is corroborated by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy who said there is a paucity of funds to meet ASUU's needs.

There seems to be no respite. The various regional and national student-bodies like NANS have tried to garner the attention of the FG to no avail [today is the seventh day of its ultimatum to government]. The latest move is an alleged plan to shut down private universities who in their opinion are unperturbed by the academic turmoils bedeviling the public sector and are rendering the strike action relatively useless. ASUU on its part is accusing the FG of not being sincere at the negotiation table.

1. TIME: You have the same 24hrs as any of the most successful person you can think about. It therefore means that there is an inverse relationship between success and time-management. Successful people are simply a product and reflection of how well they spend their time. You don't need [and most certainly you won't] get more time other than your 24 hours. What you do need is more time-management skills - the first of such skills that readily comes into my mind is multi-tasking!

2. THOUGHTS: "...as a man thinks..." Consciously decide the type of thoughts you think. You are in essence a product of your thoughts. God does not just answer your prayers but He also answers your thoughts! - Ephesians 3:20. GIGO is a familiar acronym: Garbage-In-Garbage-Out. If you put poverty in your mind; poverty comes out in your life! If you put success in; success naturally comes out. If you put love in it; love comes out by default!

3. TREASURE: Where your heart lies, there also will be your treasure. Stop dissipating energy on unfruitful ventures. How and why should a potential football player who is destined to be great spend 16 hours in front of a TV screen watching African Magic? What is the correlation between the two? Do only those things that are relevant to your life! The rest are just 'weights' that retard your progress!

4. TALENT: The gift [talent or skill] of  a man makes a way for him. Learn how to profit from your talent. Multiply your talent. From 1 to 2, from 2 to 4, from 5 to 10. Before you can profit from your purpose you must learn to package it! Sometimes how well a thing looks enhances its value than even how well it works! The first thing a brand should possess after its content [or utility] is a container [or branding]!

Sincere Confessions: "I Am a Player!"

This is just a quickie to get you thinking!

In any sporting match, there are always players and commentators. The players are those that the cameras are desperately trying to catch a glimpse of; they are the cynosure of all eyes! They are obviously better paid than the commentators [google Gareth Bale, lol]. People troop into a sporting complex just to see their favourite players. This is because the 'players' make things happen - literally [you need to watch LeBron James sometimes in the NBA Player-offs]. Commentators are those whose job is to talk about what happened in the field of play. They essentially tell the success story of others - the players. They are the 'reporters' of greatness! 

Not that i have anything against reporters - in fact i love commentaries. It is one of the things that makes a match appeal to me. I love listening to people talk - especially if they can articulate themselves properly because i learn speaking tips from such people to improve on my oratory skills.. However there is a colossal difference between just talking and living a life of always talking about the success of others. If you don't start making things happen in your life, you might be signing up for a lifetime of talking about others! Other people's greatness are meant to spur you on to achieving yours! Not to fight everyone else trying to be the number one fan of someone who i am sure does not have two heads [except he dropped from Mars]. 

I repeat: "NOBODY has a monopoly of greatness! Therefore it is never an exclusive preserve of any elite! Don't be intimidated by the success of anyone! This is because the TOP is never crowded; there is ample space for you there! Conversely it is the bottom that is crowded - so snap out of that "crowd-mentality". We were all created to be celebrated! Greatness is not a privilege; it is your [birth]right in God! 
"...as [great as] He is, so are we [great] in this world!..." SELAH!

Where Is My Name?

This is the story of a brother, who slept and woke up in Foreverland
He looked around, nothing is familiar, he wondered how he got to be there
He took a walk around the City, and saw a brick house with a small door
Walked into the room and saw a man in white, "must be an Angel" - so he said

iSEE, iHEAR, iLEARN!

''...that thou mayest observe to do..."

Amongst the numerous ways we learn; we learn by INSTRUCTIONS other times we learn by OBSERVATION. There are a thousand and one things i can mention that i have learned by mere observation. Sometimes you need to become your own LIFE COACH, your own MENTOR, your own LEADER. Permit me to share something i recently OBSERVED [no pun intended] from a particular religious organisation or denomination. This denomination has a signature pattern of grooming
 its leaders. Usually they go out in groups of twos - the duo often times comprise a more mature [experienced] person and a relatively younger [greenhorn] person. The idea is that the young protege not only learns the rudiments of the task by the INSTRUCTIONS he receives but also gleans wisdom from the more seasoned person by OBSERVING the mannerisms of the pro. It is no surprise that they are propagating with the quickness!

Jesus Himself declared that He did what He saw the Father DO [John 5:19]. He necessarily implied that He not only acted on the Father's words but also on His deeds. The eyes and the ears are principal media of learning in my ever humble opinion. This is because you learn a lot by what you hear and what you see. Little wonder Jesus was always eager to return the sense of sight to blind men - in fact one of the most predominant miracles of Jesus throughout His earthly ministry was the healing of blind eyes. 

This INSIGHT underscores the significance of exposure. Now you see why multi-nationals are not always eager to let their more experienced staff go or have a large turnover of staff because such people have amassed vital experience over the years. Also for students who miss lectures, you will agree with me that they struggle in the examinations not because they are not intelligent but they did not get the subtle emphasis the lecturer passed on by his voice inflection. If they were present, they would have been able to tell where the man's areas of concentration will originate from by his demonstrations. On another piece, i promise to expound more INSIGHTS about non-verbal communication. 

"...where there is no vision [eye-sight, fore-sight and in-sight] the people perish..." 
So when you come into a place, don't wait to always be instructed; just put on your goggles and start looking around!

Unusual Business Insights; The Kingdom Style!

This is certainly the most unusual Business Monday Insight [BMI] i have ever scribbled  - judge for yourselves!
"...he that wins souls is wise..." - Proverbs 11:30. I hear someone say: "Mr. M.''I".I today is a Monday, please talk [write] about money!" Yes sir/ma I won't only talk about money i will also talk about wealth - supernatural wealth! I warmly welcome you all to the first Monday in the 'ember months. This is for those who want radical changes in business and are willing to do radical things. A wise man asserted that "It is madness to keep doing the same thing but expecting different results". Like you all know, i am a christian [not necessarily trying to be religious or appear sanctimonious] thus it is impossible to divorce my belief in God Almighty from my writings or dissertations. In business, i believe one must realize sometimes that it is not always the panoply of professionalism, astuteness, acumen, uncanny prowess or any branding that makes it succeed. I have seen where all these exist and yet the organization still flops - literally! Let me share something profound that will shock the depths of your reasoning and approach to business.

It is only a carnal man that cannot discern that there is a strong correlation between soul-winning and individual and corporate prosperity. A soul-winner is aptly described as one who is "wise". We know "wise" is an adjective while "wisdom" is the noun. The bible tells us that Jesus is the Wisdom of God [1 Corinthians 1:24]. Also Wisdom is a defense; money [symbolic of wealth] is a defense [Ecclesiastes 7:12]. So a "wealthy" man as far as God is concerned must necessarily be a "wise" man. Consequently a wise man is a person that wins souls! i.e Wisdom = Wealth! This is because it is Wisdom that bring [godly and durable] riches - [Proverbs 8:18]. 

You can't be "wise" in this context and not be "wealthy". Thus in all your getting [achievements] get Wisdom [Jesus; the Custodian of the "riches" in glory who is infinitely greater than Solomon in riches]. So we see here that soul-winning = wealth amassing! Let me rephrase the preface Scripture in a way i enjoy doing: "...He that wins souls is wealthy...!"

This is why i want to be more pro-active on soul-winning physically and virtually [on social media]. REVELATION is the very essence of life itself. Galatians 2:2 Selah.

The Principle of Association; FRIENDs or just being FRIENDly?

In this text i will be extrapolating subtle INSIGHTS from The Principle of Association. My Choice character is from the biblical archives - Abraham; A Man of Faith. 

There is what is known as the 'also' blessing [Genesis 21:13]. This is a blessing that is a derivative of one being in a relationship or in close proximity with a blessed person. The promised heir was Isaac not Ishmael but because Ishmael still carried the blood of Abraham, God guaranteed his greatness [Genesis 21:13].   

Joseph was blessed by God and when he found himself in Potiphar's house, he attracted the blessings of God into his master's house so visibly that the man acknowledged it [Genesis 39:3]. Jacob was blessed by Isaac and he dragged the blessing of God upon his life into Laban's Company and it caused an increase in the net worth of Laban's Enterprise. Lot was not the person God called but by joining affinity with a blessed man [Abraham] his cattle grew so much that there was a contention between his herdsmen and Abraham's. Conversely God only spoke to Abraham when he dis-associated himself from a wrong relationship. [Genesis 13:14].

"...he that walks with the wise shall be wise..." Thus he that walks [intimately relates] with the great, wealthy, disciplined, determined et al shall [invariably] be[come] the caliber of people he/she so associates with! Selah [pause a little and calmly think about that]. So you see my dear friends that friendship has gone beyond just being casual acquaintances; friendship is a subtle covenant! Be friendly with everyone but obviously not everyone can be your friend.

"...henceforth i call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but i have called you friends; for all the things i have heard of my Father i have made known unto you..." - John 15:15
