The Unusual Year
Last year gave a glimpse of unexpected twists and turns, this year will take it higher.
Take for example the economy. There are two things I joke about the economy. The first is actually a fact in economics which is that "there is no free lunch anywhere". Second, " there is no working formula for the Nigerian economy!" (yes, saying it with my Degree in Economics).
Where do I start? Is it the current exchange rate that is so ridiculous? Is the oil price that has plummeted to an all time low in about 40 years? Is it fact that you cannot conveniently remove money from your domiciliary account or the benchmark on the transfer of forex? Did I mention that the sanctions against Iran have been removed meaning more supply of oil which will lead to lower prices? How do you run a successful business on these indices?
To succeed this year has to be by the supernatural. Many things will defy intelligence and logic this year. However, it is not all doom and gloom. For some people it will be a window of opportunity to arise and shine in the midst of this gross darkness. People like Joseph, the supernatural Economist, Daniel the supernatural politician or Abraham the supernatural businessman.
The world is looking for answers, so if you have solutions it invariably means the world will be looking for you!
My final thought has to be on a positive premise: that Nigeria will be the world's most desirable nation by December 31 2025, a little less than 10 years from now. Are you going to be relevant in the New Nigeria? What are you doing now? What is your contribution to Nigeria? What are you doing now? What is your status quo in this country; are you a problem to the solutions of Nigeria or are you a solution to the problems of Nigeria?
