"Innovation simply means doing things differently or acting differently upon an already existing idea"
- Sam Adeyemi
The Law of Innovation implies that whatever is being originated is at the same time getting outdated. Something can be intact and still be obsolete! My mother's Olympia typewriter is still very much intact - only that it is now obsolete. Microsoft Word has proven to be a better SURROGATE and SUBSTITUTE for such a machine.
Thus, it is not only time that initiates obsolesce; innovation and advances in competitive progress can also precede obsolesce. Your business should always be on its toes in terms of being abreast with current information and new technology. When Nokia 3310 was introduced into the market, it was 'new' but even though it is still on sale [i wonder if people still purchase it - i suggest it should be given out freely to beggars on the streets. Or what do you think?] competitive innovation has rendered it relatively useless!
"Change happens so fast that it still looks constant!" - Fela Durotoye.
For example, the earth is moving always but it moves so fast that we don't notice the spin [and thank God we don't else all of us would keep falling under the 'anointing' continually].
This means in reality that when you are not moving [ahead], you are actually retrogressing. It is impossible to remain at a single spot at all times. If you don't improve your business, competitive innovation will force you out of the marketplace!
"It is madness to keep doing the same thing but expecting different results!" - Albert Einstein
