The Strength of Weakness

God especially loves using weak people to do His will and not 'strong' people. This is simply because if He were to use a strong person, when (not if) the person gets results, he might think like Nebuchadnezzar that his strength has gotten him results.


So God will go into the wilderness and search out a shepherd boy and place him on the throne. Little wonder David was always trembling before God. When God identifies Himself with Jacob (a cheat, supplanter and charlatan), He does so because Israel (the blessed version of Jacob is strong).

That's why God says "I AM the Mighty One of Jacob" (not Israel). Remember God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Paul in one of his numerous epistles caught this revelation and proclaimed: "I therefore glory in my infirmities for when I am weak (overwhelmed by my human frailties) He is strong!

It was what made a man like David say: " the Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid of?"
