Onwa is unequivocally the most vocal critic of the current administration in Anambra State. Having briefly tasted the seat of power [2003 - 2006], Onwa is optimistic that he can take Anambra State back to her 'glory' days.
In his very words: "...i will make Anambra an oasis in the desert...". On sports development: "...i intend to construct a stadium because Anambra needs sporting facilities to develop especially in Awka...". On labour issues: "...i promise to pay minimum wages with relativity...". On economic development: "...aircrafts will land in Anambra - and i will build one within six months...". On education: "...i don't want our children not going to school! I will put back scholarship and bursary...". On security: "...these 'boys' are everywhere. Our people don't come home again. I will put back security - that is the most fundamental job of any governor..."
Political pundits however express their reservations about his party [APC], saying in spite of his lofty ambitions APC is a western party and it has incurred the wrath of Anambrarians especially since the infamous 'deportation' of its indigenes from Lagos who were 'dumped' at Upper Iweka, Onistsha. Also Mr. Godwin Ezeemo who had since defected to the PPA [Progressive Peoples' Alliance] decamped with a handful of APC members.
Onwa will have to wait until Saturday to know if the 'broom' is strong enough to sweep all these away...
